Best Advice Tutorial by fox-orian Best Advice Tutorial by fox-orian
This goes along nicely with that journal post I made recently and my influence map exercise.

This might not look like much, but it has some information I think many need to hear, because it may just be getting entirely overlooked. I would almost consider this the most basic, most important tutorial I've written. Not all of you might agree wholly with it either, and that's fine -- these are just the opinions of myself.

Go do what you need to do!

This is more of a PSA than anything, come to think of it.
By the way, I did design it so that it reads "BEST ADVICE: JUST DO IT - NOW GET TO WORK" from the thumbnail. It remains as a tiny reminder XD

Thank you, Matt. This inspired me to print out pictures of Shia LaBeouf to hang on my wall, so he can always inspire me. "Just do it" - ah, those famous words.

Thanks I needed this! I think my biggest problem is that I feel like I am slow and spend too much time on an art piece. I feel like I should be hammering this stuff out two or three a day. I dunno, maybe that's just my issue lol.

Best advice.. ever. Really inspiring.
I do have periods where I hate what I'm doing, and I wish I'd just be better, you know, just like that in a minute or so. But I know that it's takes time, and I know that I'm improving.
Trials and errors, that's what you need. And a positive view on things.

Thank you~

And THIS is a tutorial for artists. Because being an artist means also looking deep in soul, livestyle, not ONLY at works.

Hope you can understand what I wrote, but I'm glad to see something like you wrote here.
But this is my personal opinion- I feel I really wanted to see something like this. nah. sorry for bugging you.

It's just wonderful.

Great advice! I absolutely agree with you. I rarely used my tablet when I first decided to digitally paint because I had it in my head that I had to theoretically learn everything (anatomy, lighting, perspective etc) before I should take the next step. No doubt the theory work was a major boost and absolutely essential but it wasn't until I told myself to not stress the detail and just pick up that pen that I discovered new methods and techniques that are simply not written in books or tutorials. Methods that would probably only work for me.

I'm sure alot of artists can benefit from this advice and I sure have! Thanks! :)

Okay but I have a question.

I made an original character named ANONYMOUS (not really his name). I think he's perfect. But then i surf the interwebs and find out about... Him. KLONOA. He looks pretty much exactly like my character, and their names rhyme. I'm worried that people might think i'm copying off him. WHAT DO I DOOOOOO

eh...i hate when that happens.. i think i can help though. Here are some options.

A) Ask him about it politely. If he denies (and he probably will :p ) prove that your drawing was uploaded first.

B) Ignore it until people actually DO start to ask. Then prove you uploaded yours first.

C) Just be flattered and ignore him. As long as he doesn't win any contests using Klonoa, brag about how awesome he is, or making money off him, I would take it as a compliment for making such a good OC. I mean, any fanart or compliments he gets technically goes to you, too :D

Good luck! ..you don't happen to have the link to the copy-cat OC, do you?
