Drawing Cities 1 - Corridor Streets by fox-orian Drawing Cities 1 - Corridor Streets by fox-orian
A big olí tip on drawing cities from street-level. The drawings are pretty crude, (I did them very fast,) but I think they get the point across :)

Remember! Observe these things in real life as you walk around! This tip is just to make you aware. By observing in real life, is how you can really make it feel real!

Hope it helps you out!

Great tips! This is the kind of stuff that seems obvious once someone's pointed it out, but is so often overlooked in perspective lessons.

I don't think most people see enough drawings of cities to know if other people tend to draw it one way more than the other. Most people struggle with getting the perspective right. XD

I say it's almost always a good idea to copy from life a good number times before starting to draw stuff from imagination though. You could say the same for drawing clothes or people or animals or furniture or natural scenery or whatever.

The exception being if you somehow don't want conceptual baggage to hinder a purposefully radical design in brainstorming stages or something, or if you're into highly abstracted/simplified styles.

That's a really good tip! I actually hadn't thought of it like this. :) Cityscapes are a real stumbling block for me, so I'll definitely keep this in mind when I practice them.
