FOR CREATIVE SUITE 1 OR HIGHER
INTENDED FOR USE WITH A GRAPHIC TABLET

My default brush set which I use in my illustrations and speed paints. These are the only brushes I tend to use... ever. My brush palette consists of only these. I like to keep things simple. Too many brush choices can confuse me. If you use these, I wouldn't suggest appending them to your current set. Perhaps try using these as a starting base for a new master library.

I made most of these, except for the square, diamond, and hexagon shaped ones. Those three I got from a friend. These obviously aren't a very complicated set of brushes. Pretty standard but not Photoshop default.

For people who like to sketch and thumbnail in photoshop, I HIGHLY recommend completely replacing your current brush set with JUST these. Simplify your workflow!

I like to call them "Basic but essential." While the round Pencil and Pen ones look pretty normal from the preview, they're very different to draw with. They offer an overall greater sharpness and slight broken-up edge for texture. The Pencil brushes especially look like real scanned pencil lines with an unsharp mask already applied. They're absolutely fantastic for sketching, unlike the default round photoshop brushes.

The two chisel brushes are especially useful for thumbnailing and silhouetting. I typically use the chisel brush to make a silhouette in black first, then add/carve detail within the silhoette with white.

The "Glow" brush is just a standard soft 300px with a 75% minimum diameter set. I use this brush for adding light glows and atmospheric effect most commonly.

Play around with them. You might make some new best friends :)

If you have any questions about their specific uses, feel free to leave a question and I can give some technique hints.

Well, I am most grateful for your contribution with this fine brushes and it's most appreciated indeed! Your work is just so amazing and this brush set is testimony that your skill prevails over über technical assets that assist too much in the creations. It's the talent behind the brush that ultimately wins, but thank you very much for the insight and for sharing this fantastic set with us! You the man!!

make a map of what you see; direct pain effectively.

I had huge problems with the opacitiyjittershapesizetournflipdoubledistanceflow-settings of my brushes. I started experimenting and got deceived.
What do you use the "Quick Foliage Brush" for?
:iconfox-orian:
So are you having trouble with your own brushes? Or just mine? XD hahah

The quick foliage brush can be seen in use in some of my speed paintings, [link] for example.
:iconfox-orian:
My quick foliage brush is the closest thing I use to a symbolic brush XD hahah
I hate using things that assist too much, to the point that the brush does more work than the artist. If I can't draw it myself, then I try to draw it until I get it right

These should be extremely useful, it's always good to create my own brushes but sometimes it's nice to see how artists more talented than myself set up their brushes. Thanks, I definitely have to try these out!

And I had that exact feeling when I saw your brush set! It's definitely a tool, but it's no 'instant art' set, either...and that's the beauty of it! Thanks again for sharing, it's most appreciated!
