Artist's Comments

- Sorry for the blown highlights in this submission, I actually had to photograph the work since it was too large to fit in my scanner. My camera did an 'OK' job reproducing it, but guh, its just much better in person.

Course: Character Design Studio
Assignment: Creating a Mechanized Character

This would be my submission for the weeks topic. A few of the references might be evident. The head is a direct reference to some of HOON's robotic creations. The legs and joint-mechanisms are references to some of Doug Chiang's unusued Battle Droid designs for Star Wars Episode 1. The "Wings" it bears are a reference [more like a throw-back] to my old "Kathryn's Wings" concept found sometime back in the 2003 area of my gallery.
How the mecha lost its left arm isn't known. The scale of the mecha is about average adult human size.

Asking one of my neighbors, he suggested the name "Fencer," based off of the fencing mask-like head design, and the fact it has only one arm.

Woah, awesome design on that one. I do love the wings and the tight rendering is grand. Brilliant work.

sweet stuff, dude. awesome design, all the workings and robotic stuff looks great and realistic.. nice shadow, too, it really grounds it.

Very cool design. Like the disjointed look of the wings and the details on the chest and arms :)
:iconfox-orian:
heh, Funny. My professor told me the shadow was the most lacking part in the entire image. Then again the photo here is pretty horrible to begin with... I should ATTEMPT to scan it when I get it passed back.
:iconlostmercenary:
Very nicely done. I can't even believe how cool it would be in real life. =P
