Monsoon Season by fox-orian Monsoon Season by fox-orian
Maia & Jace, enjoying the last bits of sun before everything gets wet for good.

Photoshop CS6, made during some free time over a few days. Inspired by a service stairwell on the back of a theater near where I've worked.

I sure do love stairs, blue skies, and high places.

I assume you're already in the industry and not in college because your work is absolutely amazing.

I'm out of college but I'm not in the industry. Believe it or not, I work a regular nothing special retail job!
I'm working on getting into the industry, though.

Did you major in something artistic, then? One of your drawings is on a train track and I think you said it was drawn in your first year of college.

Actually it's not! I own a bad by North Face called the Base Camp Messenger XL -- seen here: images.asos-media.com/inv/q/17…
I got it in yellow because I was on my Mirror's Edge high back then, (I use this bag primarily for grocery shopping now.) But yeah, this is actually the bag in this picture too XD I like to give Maia bags I own in real life.

I like this one, proportions are not exagerated like in the other ones (less manga-like). I would like to see more like this one, like your own style thing

So . . . is Synthesis ever going to be a comic? Cause every Synthesis drawing I see I want to read their story even more and it makes me sad when I can't :(

I swear, man...I get GOOSEBUMPS from looking at your artwork. It's that powerful...

The detail... you never skimp out on it. You even added contrails in the sky... Never seen that done before in any artwork I've seen, unless maybe there was a jet there. I'm at loss for words...
And it's always obvious that you apply your vast knowledge of color theory into everything you do. The colors here are simple on their own...but together, it truly brings this piece to life.

Thank you for posting this~ You're such an inspiration.

AMAZING! My only critique is that the clothes are too not-wrinkled, and therefore not interesting. It can be a stylistic choice... but I live EVERYTHING ELSE!!!!

Observation: I consistently love your sense of color and atmosphere (pun slightly intended here), and this piece is just another prime example of your amazing abilities with placing characters in rich, well-drafted environments. The shadows, the hint of sunlight, the distant approach of heavy precipitation, the stark details of the cityscape, and even the contrails in the blue sky...all very evocative to me.

Resolution: I hope I'm half as good as you some day. Your biggest strengths are often the elements I tend to shy away from, and there's so much to be learned from your work, let alone how enjoyable it is. Thanks for this!
