Old (Unused) Synthesis Thumbnails 2010 by fox-orian Old (Unused) Synthesis Thumbnails 2010 by fox-orian
This is a collection of thumbnails for pages of another Syn-Thesis, for practice, understanding of style, approach, etc, I did back in 2010.

In truth I would've wanted to explore this as a plow-ahead wing-it approach to getting Synthesis done. But, I had no real plans for the plot at this time. And after so many pages, I was like "What am I doiiiinnnggg??" -- ECH I stopped while I wasn't ahead and returned to developing a real plot and script in a word processor first. My mind works so much better when it's all planned out first.

Oh well, enjoy this obsolete, super rough drawn, badly written experiment! It's a learning experience.

Note: Not indicative of the final Synthesis in any form XD

practice or not, the setup and characterization are great. can't wait to see what happens when you decide to do this for real.

I really enjoy the themes here. Something about city life and mass transit really hits the right chords with me. I also like how clear your understanding of perspective is even in thumbnails. It'll be interesting to see what the final product is like.

Even if it's a rough it's great already, I could read the whole story like this that I wouldn't mind. The composition is good, the narration is fluid. I admire how you're at ease with comic design :)
How advanced are you in your project, now, by the way?

YEAH, you're back in action! I love it so far, please keep going. You're style (in non-rough form) is unique and quite stunning again and again. :) I'd really love to see more stuff for synthesis coming up in the near future.

Although this was only an experiment/learning experience, I still love it and it makes me so excited for when you get round to developing and bringing out this project! It was your Syn-Thesis colour spreads that drew me to your page and made me follow you in the first place ;D

All the best! Hope you'll get some time to work on this soon :)

But yeah, scripting is kinda an essential part of comics.

Some people can blow through it from start to finish with next to no prior planning -- and it works REALLY WELL.

I am not one of those people I found out back then XD

I'd imagine that would work a lot better for short stories and such. Still, scripting, along with thumbnailing, helps tremendously. (Thumbnailing even more so, that way you can assure everything fits within the page and flows correctly).

In the end though it's whatever works best for you! :D

Hahaha yeah I've worked Synthesis by this point to be something of a 20-plot-point 3-act story. Something the length of a feature film in comic form.
Still a lot left to work on with it, though, huagh!

:D yay! comics! There are some things I really love about this, though- the train-map intro crawl...there are some really nice shots and the action flows pretty well from scene to scene. I hope to see whatever this has gone on to become sometime!

Yay! I really like it. I moved to a new city recently myself so it kinda resonates, although this is way more extreme! :D My favourite bit is the truck being buffeted by the train. That train's a hooligan!

Great expressions also :D

I love how you used subway map style illustrations (that is what it is, right?) to introduce yourself and the co-conceptualizer, it's super clever and a nice little homage to trains and other mass transit
