I still take my camera everywhere I go, every day. Even when I go to work. As I walk around, either by where I live or a little ways down town, I'll take photos of anything, even if it's nothing particularly interesting.

For those that don't know, photography for me is a major inspiration source for scenery. I feel lucky that I live where I do, because it has a lot of interesting things to me to snap photos of. While 99.9% of the photos I take are never used for any of my artwork, [because they end up not being of any use to me,] they still help me retain particular bits of information about certain types of scenery and environments. You could say that my photography serves as a study guide.

The photos here are a small selection of the [nearly 5000] random things I catch when I walk around town and where I live. I don't consider any of this stuff having artistic value, because I never intended to be a photographer for those purposes. What these do represent are how my mind works. What I see and how I want to see it.

What you don't see here is what my mind usually does to these scenes -- an interaction taking place, or something happening. There are hundreds that I want to do, to turn transform into artworks, but I'm short on time for these personal artworks of this type.

Some of you may recognize the artwork on the right near the bottom as one I transformed last year. To this day it remains the only photo I've transformed into an artwork, and it makes me a little sad because of just how many I still want to do. So for now I'm taking photos on the basis of location reference for Synthesis.

Oh and that said, feel free to find inspiration in these for your own work. I only took the photos of things that already exist that anyone can see, so I'm not claiming any extensive copyrights here.

Thank you for your reference posts. I dread drawing backgrounds, but after looking through your work, then these reference pages, you've made me want to try harder.

Looking at these wonderful pictures and so many of your great works, and the reason why your one of my favorite artists if not my favorite in the realm of Architecture and perspective, is when i look at one, i feel as if im sucked into it, like each picture is a little world all in itself.

That Haymarket is like what you'll find most in street foodcourts in my country (Indonesia, lol) or maybe other countries in South East Asia. I never knew there would be such a place in Boston @_@

You have such a nice camera. I never remembered Haymarket to look so nice! Actually, it took me awhile to realize it was Boston... I live there, too! I am disappointed in myself. :shakefish: That aside, these references really show where you get your inspiration from. :P

It's surprising to see pictures of Boston and compare them to your artwork. I never would've guessed that Boston is such a colorful and architecturally diverse city. It would definitely be a nicer place to live compared to Ohio...
