Not all of the backgrounds will be quite as detailed as you see here. This is a sort of master background, that's used in larger panels, and will likely be used more than once since it could be a minor re-occurring location.
This drawing stemmed from a one hour speed paint seen here: [link] Barrel distortion was added after the speed paint was finished, which I used as a guide to draw the distortion in the drawing.

Could you tell me a bit more about that software your using? Synthesis was it? I tried to google a bit about it but fount nothing relevant about it ...
This is a beautiful background nonetheless! Wow, I like how the organic matter seamlessly goes with all the industrial designs. Actually, I just love that fact in general about your work.
