Remember this tutorial is for use with DOWNSIZED pages only -- NOT for full resolution pages! For example, my pages for synthesis are 6x8 inches at 600 dpi for PRINT. I downsize these for screen viewing to 750x1000 pixels. This faux texture is applied to the 750x1000 downsized version. So, as indicated in the tutorial, shrink your page with at least a distinct lineart and shading layer still intact.
I felt tempted to write about something that irked me when I began planning the drawing for synthesis back in early February. My old method of bitmap halftoning just wasn't working very well to get that "scanned" screentoned look I was going for. As I demonstrate within the tutorial, when I resize my bitmapped pages to have them viewed on the internet, [after converting them back to grayscale,] the result is harsh on the eyes at best. So, here's a supplemental lesson as to how I obtain this headache-free, authentic-looking screentoning in my resized pages intended for screen-viewing.
