True story:
Last summer I tried to apply for a job at Soup2Nuts animation studio here in Boston. Before they hire you, they make you take a test. I was applying as a backgrounder, so they wanted me to depict the hallway that leads to a museum's storage vault while adhering to the visual style of the rest of the show. (They had a vague guideline on how they wanted it to look.) It had to be done in vector.

The test specified that I had one week to complete the work and send it back to them. Yet, the test also specified that the work you complete will be expected of you within a single work day. I completed the test and sent it back to them within 8 hours of receipt. Hey if they wanted proof I could work within a single day, there it was.

Well unfortunately I never heard back from them. (They said they weren't currently hiring. ... ...) Oh well. So here's what I gave them, anyway.

*** NOTE: I didn't submit it to them like THIS as a .PNG. The work was submitted as a flash file with the background centered & sized for the movie frame dimensions. What you see here is the *whole* file including the stuff outside of the frame edges.

this is amazingly done in flash. I even love those flowery decorative gold borders below the ceiling. The bursh strokes look smooth. I just HATE the brush tool in flash.

Hey man, could I ask you for a favor? Man, could you please tell me how did you work out with the layers? Did you have separate layers for lighting or did you fit objects and lighting in the same layer?

It would be an honor for me to get an answer, well thanx a lot in advance xD Since I'm watching you I wished to see you doing a vector :)
