Little warm up I did earlier tonight to try to play with scale in a scene.

This is a split-level planet. It's two hemispheres are actually slid apart vertically by a good mile or so. This would be somewhere near the apex, on the lower side.

Nngh! I don't care if this is geologically impossible!

Sweet. This sort of reminds me of what you get when you load an old Minecraft world in a new version of the game, and go off somewhere you've not gone before. You get sheer cliffs between cells that are otherwise normal. Just needs lava, water, or better yet both pouring out of the cliffside :)
