Studio Workspace 2010 by fox-orian Studio Workspace 2010 by fox-orian
(will scrap later)

Quite a bit has changed in the studio space since the last time I posted photos of it in my journal sometime in the winter. That was back when we first gutted the living room and implemented a workspace type arrangement, no couches, etc.

Now that I've gotten newer pieces of furniture, and have had more time to arrange things as I like, [including painting an accent wall,] I now have a workspace that I'm both happy and comfortable in. The other mates in the apartment use this space, as well, and it makes a decent hang out spot when guests come over, but most of the time it's just me in here.

And yes, I love IKEA and stuff. All the furniture in the room except for the drafting tables is from IKEA. It's cheap stuff, and you can do so much with it!

-- Also some of you might think I have lots of money or live in an upscale place. Both are not the case hahahah. I live in an entirely standard no-frills neighborhood and building. I'm not kidding when I say that a good amount of this furniture was bought off of Craigslist or just plain found on the sidewalks on mass-move-out months. [may and august.] I'm the master of salvaging stuff people don't want anymore :)

Here's a list of what I found & craigslisted

Three drawer unit next to flat file: FOUND [needed repair. is now refurbished to like-new]
Red & White Swivel Chairs: Craigslist $10 each
Black table & 4 chairs - Craigslist $110 for whole set
Red laptop cabinet [on wall] - Craigslist for $15
Tall stools at drafting tables: all 3 FOUND
Rug under drafting tables: FOUND
Standing floor lamp [on desk] - FOUND
Silver waste baskets & document holder [on top of printer] - All FOUND

-- Everything else was bought for retail price from IKEA.

High five for having a Zune!
fox-orian Featured By Owner Feb 27, 2012  Professional Digital Artist
Though I sold the Zune a while ago. But it's OK, I'm a WP7 user now! *high fives*
MrSyxx Featured By Owner Feb 29, 2012  Hobbyist Photographer
Again high five, we got to play around with the new Nokia 900 at the office a couple days ago (I own the trophy) if only verizon would start rolling out some new WP7 handsets.

It's seductive and makes me ache for a neat space and setup.

Under your Intuous 4 where did you get that elevated stand =D? That looks like it would be very comfortable to use the Intuous with. I would greatly appreciate knowing where to get one or something similar to it ^-^.

I was wondering too, then I noticed in the wacom tutorial the name and everything was mentioned:

What a clean and wonderful place to do work. lol, its so hard to focus for me with all my clutter gathered around, when i buy a house ill probably have some stark white room with a nice comfy chair and a table.... and the walls and floor are flat and white.

Hey i just noticed you expedit bookcase has a wide shelf at the top. is that a specific model or did you configure that in assembly?
fox-orian Featured By Owner Aug 21, 2011  Professional Digital Artist
Nope, I just didn't install the vertical divider. IKEA furniture is very modular in the sense that you can skip steps and it'll still work.
JayEcho Featured By Owner Aug 21, 2011  Hobbyist Digital Artist

It looks really comfortable, I like how you chose red LOL. My workplace is my own bedroom, so it's full of stuffs and doesn't look as spacey as this :P

Magic-Of-Feather Featured By Owner Jan 23, 2011
nice workspace
but why red <_< ... be careful with red color:P it's may hurt your eyes <--- she hate red XD
fox-orian Featured By Owner Jan 23, 2011  Professional Digital Artist
Hahaha I chose red because it's bold and energetic to me. At night it makes the room very warm with the lights we use, which is comfortable to work around. Since we're all digital artists, we don't have to worry about color temperature messing up our color perception.

It looks stronger in the photos, but its really quite nice in person.
Magic-Of-Feather Featured By Owner Jan 26, 2011
yeah i agree that red color gives us strong feeling when you see it

" but warm how???" i feel so angry when i see in on a wall:p
i always say to my friend don't ever think of red " for your wall or any thing gonna take a huge place " we can have it in such as accessories, coz you don't wanna one color will take your whole attention and leave everything
the red color always has been so attractive to see that's why i don't like ppl focus in a thing and leave the others " red color is perfect for lip stick and dreads in my opinion heehaw to much taking

after all everyone has his own taste <-- after what ! :P

The colours work amazingly!
It looks very well laid out, I'd love to work in there... Really open!
jabberwocky14 Featured By Owner Nov 10, 2010  Student General Artist
Wow, I really like the way your workspace works with red, white, black and pops of colour. I'll keep this in mind, as I don't like red that much, but it seems really invigorating like this. :]

so clean and organized o_o it looks awesome, im kinda confused you seem like the gamer type but that room is way too clean to be a gamers room but then again i might be wrong because you are rocking the logitech speed pad but i see nothing razer D: lol some razor stuff might go good with your room =p maybe razer mamba or razor lycosa?
fox-orian Featured By Owner Oct 20, 2010  Professional Digital Artist
Hahahah remember I'm a working professional artist. I make a pretty good amount of money from the work I do for clients, so I have to have a quality workspace.

I play games far fewer now than I used to. I don't need much high end gaming equipment. What I have suits me fine for some quick rounds of TF2, some futzin' around in Mirror's Edge, or some indie steam games.

excuse me but do i see volume one and two of FLCL?
fox-orian Featured By Owner Oct 9, 2010  Professional Digital Artist
Yup. Sadly I bought volume 2 after TokyoPop changed their cover design, so they don't perfectly match.

May I ask where you got those copic stands/holder from? I looked quite some time for something like this but never found something!
I'd love to buy one for my markers!

Epic workplace all in all, I wish I had enough space to fill a room with my drawing-stuff!
